"In 1902 the Thayer Company Dimension Plant was established by T.W.Thayer, head of the Thayer Company in New York state. Mr. Thayer never lived in Damascus and the Damascus plant was a branch plant manufacturing material for sashes, doors, and table tops. The plant was built beside the river where the Lincoln plant is located now. The plant was in operation until it was sold to Hassinger Lumber Co, in 1922."
"In 1926 after Hassinger had cut what amounted to approximately 3,000,000 feet the Thayer plant was leased by Hassingers to the Associated Bodies, headed by Fred Paxton of Bristol, Va. This company made wood parts for cars."
