"The thirty-four miles of trail between Abingdon and Whitetop Station pass through a wide variety of habitats due to varying elevations, sun exposures, forest types, and stream and land formations. The trail crosses a variety of active farms, including tobacco fields, pastures, vegetable gardens, cornfields, and hay fields as well as abandoned pastures and fields growing thick with brush."
